A journalist based in Guwahati, Assam (India) received the Swarna Kamal for the Best Film Critic at the National Film Awards in 2011. He is a member of two notable film critics associations – FIPRESCI (International Federation of Film Critics) and Film Critics Circle of India (FCCI). He served as Juror at several reputed international film festivals, including Busan, Port of Spain, Almaty, Dhaka, Kerala, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. He conducted a workshop on film criticism at the University of West Indies, St Augustine, Trinidad in 2012 and presented documentaries from the North-East India at the media and communications department of Goldsmiths College, London (2008). He co-edited “Perspectives on Cinema of Assam”, the first ever comprehensive volume in English language on the subject. He contributed a chapter on Assamese Cinema in the Routeledge Handbook of Indian Cinemas (London, 2013).
Suraj Duwarah is a National Award winning film maker from Assam. He got the Rajat Kamal (Best Regional Film) for his debut work “ORONG” in the National Film Award in 2015. He worked as the cinematographer in the docu-fiction “In Search of God” which got OSCAR nomination in 2011. He has made various short films since 2005 and most of his works got official entries in International film festivals. He is a diploma holder in Cinematography from Jyoti Chitraban Film and Television Institute, Assam (India). He served as a Jury member of the selection committee for the International film section in 1st Guwahati International Film Festival 2017.
